DULCIE BIRD


Dulcie Bird is a Founding Director and CEO of the Dr Edward Koch Foundation, a major regional public health research and developmental institute. The Foundation’s primary focus is suicide prevention and post-suicide support. Dulcie played a leading role in developing and delivering the Foundation’s Life Suicide Prevention Program, which includes the Life Suicide Prevention Workshops, Life Bereavement Support Service, Life Community Plans and the Life Aboriginal & Torres Strait Suicide & Other Sudden Unexpected Death Bereavement Support Group. Dulcie’s position as corporate leader also includes personal involvement in program delivery in remote and Indigenous communities.

Dulcie also chairs the FNQ Suicide Prevention Taskforce, a coordinating body for organisations and individuals in the region involved in mental health and suicide prevention. She was honoured with an Australia Day Award in 2004.
