The Cairns Chamber recognises that charities and philanthropic organisations play a critical role in our community. They are our customers and we would like to support the following organisations that are important to our members:

Project Booyah

Project Booyah is an initiative of the Coomera District Police (CPIU) in partnership with the Kokoda Challenge Association, Nerang Child Safety Service Centre, Nerang PCYC and Gold Coast Institute of Tafe targeting 'at risk' youth involved in criminal/anti social behaviour, self harm, substance abuse and disengagement from school.

Youth attend an innovative and structured 9 day wilderness adventure therapy based camp. They then engage in a three month interactive learning environment at the Nerang PCYC involving drug/alcohol awareness, skill set in tailored programs designed by the Gold Coast Institute of Tafe.

These programs cover a variety of areas including: hospitality/retail/tourism/construction/mining before being mentored by police/experts promoting good physical and mental health.

How can Project Booyah help you?

Are you or Do you know a young person aged between 14-17 years that is currently involved in, or engaging in anti-social behaviour, committing criminal activities, substance abuse, self harm, and/or disengaged from school? If the answer is YES, please email Nathan at or Ian at for more information.

Some 632 businesses within the Cairns CBD have signed on to be a part of Cairns Business Watch, which is an extension of Neighbourhood Watch.

The program aims to forge working relationships and the exchange of information between local police and business owners.

Representatives from the group will work closely with police in establishing direct lines of communication and addressing the concerns of those in the business community. Through the program members are encouraged to actively report crime and suspicious behaviour along with looking out for their neighbouring businesses.

Business owners within the Cairns CBD that haven’t already registered are encouraged to join the group by emailing:

Cairns Business Watch will encompass the area as outlined below.

The Dr Edward Koch Foundation is a non-profit organisation, established to focus and support public health activities in north Queensland.
